Dear Parents,
Summer is a very important time to read as much as possible.
Children can tragically loose many important reading skills over the
summer. To keep your child’s reading abilities strong and growing
we require students to do summer reading.
Incoming third graders will be required to read 15 Accelerated
Reading pictures books and 1 chapter book in their reading level.
These books need to be recorded on a reading log. Students choose
three of these books to do a book report on. One book report must be
for a fiction book and one book report must be for non-fiction book.
However, the third book report can be either. The book reports can
be found and printed off the third grade webpage.
Book reports and the reading log must be turned in the first
week of school. Friday of the first week will be the last day assignments
will be accepted. Students will be able to take AR tests on books that
they read over the summer.
AR lists will be available at www.queenofheavennm.comby title
and level. Mrs. Claspell will send their latest AR level with report cards.
Thank you,
Cristina Gonzalez
